Happy New Year! As 2007 brings renewed hopes and dreams to us all it brings me a new venture. Fanfare Inc is the culmination of several goals and dreams I’ve had for a very long time. I’ve had a multitude of ideas, various dreams (real ones where I woke in the middle of the night so I could write them down!), and a myriad of experiences that led me here. As I traveled around the country supporting my favorites I got more involved in the fan community. I’ve learned a lot and combined many of those ideas with an obvious niche that needed to be filled. I’ve always enjoyed Daytime television and I’ve always been fascinated with how things work behind the scenes to put television shows together. My hobby of daytime has always been my guilty pleasure. I’ve watched since I was 7 years old. There have been few times since then when I missed a show and that was usually because I was in school. This was before the age of VCR’s, now DVD’s and Soapnet. I was hooked! A television addict was born. I even minored in Broadcasting in college once I actually settled on a degree with the hopes I would someday write for daytime. Whims change and so did that goal but I’ve always remained interested in television, daytime, and its effect on our society. I never imagined I would get more involved in daytime as the years progressed which eventually led to me actually working as a fan manager for a very new, young upcoming actor. One thing led to another and I have now had the opportunity to work with a number of actors in a variety of ways. It has been an absolute thrill to be in the same room with so many of the people who had been in my living room day to day as I grew from a very young girl; through to a teenager; and now a (dare I say) middle aged woman. Yes, I still watch everyday.

As I spend my time with actors a few things became apparent…1) you are genuine people with real heart and real feelings 2) that many of you are concerned with the legacy left to family, friends, and society, as much (if not more) as you are concerned with your legacy on screen, 3) that minority actors and fans, of all colors are underrepresented in most aspects in television, and 4) my need to do something good in society is always paramount in everything I do, including fan management. Yeah…big lessons, but how would I bring this all together to create something marketable and fun; where I could always give back? Ahhh the challenge. Always being an “outside the box” kind of thinker it came to me. Create a place where Actors of color could utilize my services to market themselves, create the kind of legacy they wanted, and reach out to their fans at the same time. After several versions of a business plan, Fanfare, Inc. was born. If you are an actor reading this feel free to browse the site and email me your questions. As Fanfare, inc. takes shape I want it to not only be a place to advertise for business but mainly be a place to learn more about how you can give of your name and time to community based service agencies that are in much need of a spokesperson. I have always dreamed of bringing celebrities together with charities that can use a lift from a famous face. What’s in it for you? Why lots positive publicity of course! I am more interested in getting and keeping more actors of color in primary roles in Daytime. I am most concerned with motivating fans of color to use their consumer power to make that happen. It’s a controversial idea I know but certainly not new…my Caucasian counterparts have been doing it successfully for years. I was struck by how few fan club presidents of color there are, and even more struck by how few of us belonged or knew anything about fan clubs, and lastly I am dumbfounded by how few actors of color have been offered representation by the mainstream providers of this service. So here I am, throwing my hat into the ring…check me out. Many of you know me already as you’ve seen me around supporting you for years…especially if you are employed by ABC Daytime.

I look forward to hearing from you.
